The practice
Commercial Insurance Advisor is not a brokerage. It is my commercial practice — one broker, one direct line, and a focus on the lines of business where the detail in a policy decides whether a business can keep operating. I have spent the last four years placing insurance for Alberta business owners.
Commercial property and casualty business is placed through Sonic Insurance, the Alberta brokerage I am licensed with. That relationship is what gives your file access to a range of insurers rather than a single company's appetite, and it is why the policy documents you receive carry the brokerage's name.
Life, critical illness and disability insurance are arranged separately through MSW Financial, my life and living benefits practice. Different licence, different paperwork, same person on the phone.
Sonic Insurance operates from 1010 – 4231 109 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T3N 2B1. I work with businesses across Alberta, so the number to call is mine — 780-599-6660 — not the brokerage switchboard.
Who I work with
Most of my time goes to three kinds of business. Trucking — owner operators, growing carriers and fleets, where cargo wording, physical damage values and keeping units and drivers current matter more than the headline premium. Contractors — trades, general contractors and subcontractors, where the insurance requirement in a contract is often what actually decides whether work can start. And commercial property — landlords, investors and owner-occupied businesses, where building values, hail and water treatment and business interruption do the heavy lifting.
Beyond those, I place liability, property, commercial auto and specialty lines for small and medium-sized Alberta businesses generally, and arrange group health and dental benefits for employers.
How I work
Every file starts with the same thing: understanding the operation. What the business does, what it owns, who works in it, where it operates and what its contracts require. Only then is it worth talking about coverage, because until that is understood, any recommendation is a guess.
From there I take the file to the insurers that fit, come back with what is available, and explain where the options genuinely differ rather than reading out premiums. Once a policy is in place, changes, certificates and renewal reviews come back to me directly.
Renewals are best started about sixty days out. That is enough time to gather information, approach markets properly and make a decision without a deadline making it for you.
A note on this website
There are no testimonials, review counts, award badges or savings claims anywhere on this site, because none have been independently verified. Everything stated here is either a fact about how the practice works or general information about coverage. If something matters to your decision, ask me directly and I will give you a straight answer.

Why work with me
Why Commercial Insurance Advisor
No slogans. Here is what is actually different about working with an individual commercial broker.
You deal with one broker
The person who quotes your file is the person who answers the phone at renewal, and the person who sorts out the certificate when a job is waiting on it.
Commercial is the focus
Trucking, contractors, commercial property and business insurance — not a general shop where commercial lines are a sideline.
Access to multiple insurers
As a broker with Sonic Insurance, your file goes to the markets that fit your operation rather than to a single company's underwriting box.
Plain answers about coverage
What a policy covers, what it does not, and what a contract is actually asking for — explained before you sign, not after a claim.
Let's talk about your commercial insurance
Tell me what the business does and what is coming up. If a certificate or a renewal is driving the timeline, say so — it changes how I work the file.
